The LDA is the authoritative voice of the laser-optical technology industry and exists to promote the ultra-high quality video experience provided by Laser Disc. Its members consist of companies involved in the Laser Disc business including Pioneer, Panasonic, Sony, Republic Pictures, MCA/Universal, CBS/Fox Video, and Image Entertainment.
Anderson, a veteran video writer-producer, says, "The LDA's intent is to project a clearer and more activist voice in today's heated discussions of new technology. It's important to remember that Laser Disc was interactive from the day it was first produced, and that it continues to set the standard in full motion video to which others aspire. The LDA works to ensure that the Laser Disc marketplace, as well as video consumers at large, understands that emerging technologies can only help make what was already the very best of video experiences even better."
Anderson's most recent assignments include producing package and supplemental materials for the critically acclaimed Laser Disc series "Chaplin: A Legacy of Laughter" and editing several segments of supplemental materials for the Laser Disc "special edition" of Danny DeVito's "Hoffa."
Among the activities of the LDA are the publication of information for and about the industry, including an industry-wide Laser Disc Production Guide for producers, editors and directors of videotape masters for Laser Disc, and a quarterly Software Report, both of which have positioned the LDA as a source of reliable and up-to-date information about the industry. In addition, the LDA certifies both software and hardware for compatibility with Laser Disc standards and will soon inaugurate an awards program to recognize individuals and companies which have advanced the Laser Disc industry.
