LAS VEGAS ENTERTAINMENT NETWORK STEAMS AHEAD ON DEVELOPMENT OF MISSISSIPPI DOCKSIDE CASINO PROJECT

MARINA DEL REY, Calif., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- One of Las Vegas Entertainment Network's Mississippi dockside riverboat casino projects came a step closer to realization this week with acquisition of two huge river barges on which the facility will be constructed near Tunica, Miss.
Las Vegas Entertainment Inc. (NASDAQ: LVEN) announced that the barges, purchased from Transport Marine Inc. of Galveston, will be floated from Port Arthur along the Texas coast and up the Mississippi River to reach the casino construction site and operating dockside location by Aug. 10. Arrival has been timed to coincide with anticipated cresting of the flood waters, which will significantly facilitate permanent placement of the barges.
Once secured and fastened together, the barges will create a platform 295 feet long by 105 feet wide on which LVEN will commence construction of a 25,000- to 30,000-foot casino, the plans for which are currently being completed, and is projected to open for business by year's end.
The dockside casino site, approximately 20 acres in size, is near the "Splash" dockside riverboat casino, which has operated with substantial financial success since opening in October 1992. The success of Splash has prompted widespread interest in Tunica County. Another neighboring dockside casino project currently being developed by Lady Luck has its dockside casino now under construction and a projected September completion.
Since the opening of the Splash Casino Riverboat, Tunica has been transformed into a gambling and tourist destination drawing people from Memphis, northern Mississippi, Arkansas and even Kentucky and Missouri. Approximately 1.5 million people live within a 100-mile driving radius of the Tunica location. There is no gaming in either of the adjacent states of Tennessee or Arkansas.
