LARRY V. MOORE NAMED PRESIDENT OF PHILIPS HOME SERVICES INTERNATIONAL; PHILIPS ELECTRONICS SUBSIDIARY TO DEVELOP SCREEN TELEPHONE-BASED NETWORK

EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Philips Electronics N.V. (NYSE: PHG) today announced that Larry V. Moore has been named president and chief executive officer of its subsidiary, Philips Home Services International (PHS).
Boston-based PHS is developing a services network to provide transactional and information services such as enhanced telephony, home banking, travel and reservations to users of screen telephones and other communications devices. The company also markets the Philips Enhanced Telephone, a successor to touch-tone technology that incorporates a display screen, microprocessor, fax/date modem and retractable keyboard into an ordinary telephone.
Prior to joining PHS, Moore was vice president and general manger of Lotus Development Corp., where he managed the company's thrust into the communications field with Lotus Notes. In that capacity, Moore was responsible for the introduction of Lotus Notes -- the groupware product that anchors Lotus' communication strategy. In addition, he held the position of vice president, strategic alliances where he had senior management responsibility for the Lotus/IBM relationship.
Before becoming involved in communications, he was vice president and general manager of Lotus Information Services where he developed and executed the company's strategy for providing CD/ROM-based information services to the financial marketplace.
In 1981, Moore founded ISYS Corp., a company that changed the nature of timesharing computing by introducing PC-based investment analysis systems which, for the first time, combined PC software and current financial data. ISYS was acquired by Lotus in 1986, to expand the company's presence in the information services market.
From 1975 to 1981, he was vice president of Data Resources Inc., where he had overall responsibility for DRI's entry in the financial information market.
He earned a bachelor of science in business administration and a master's degree in economics from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Moore is married and has two children.
