LARNE OUT ON A LIM; CIFA CHAMPIONSHIP.
While members of the club's board and its committee occupy themselves with ownership issues, the backdrop has been far from easy for team boss Graham McConnell and his players.
They suffered a 4-3 defeat to Limavady United on Saturday, the Inver Reds' third league defeat of the season. Two first half goals inside a minute from Lee Patrick and Gary Crossan had the Roesiders in control and Neil Harkin added a third after the restart.
Gary Rafferty pulled one back for Larne with 15 minutes to go but then Marc Brown conceded a penalty.
Anto Lagan was shown a second yellow card for his protestations and will miss next week's Intermediate Cup tie at Annagh United. Ryan McIlmoyle sent keeper Brian Neeson the wrong way to make it 4-1.
Despite playing with 10 men, Bertie Fulton and Rafferty both scored deep in stoppage time but it was too late to save that home record.
Meanwhile, Peter Steele's loan spell with Larne has been brought to an end.
The teenage striker is returning to Glentoran where he hopes to establish himself in manager Alan McDonald's first team squad.
Steele started four matches for Larne and came off the bench on five occasions. His only goal for the club came against Armagh City.
However the local lad has found his opportunities limited of late and his last appearance was as a substitute against Tobermore United.
