LARGO ENTERTAINMENT'S 'THE GETAWAY' TO BE DISTRIBUTED BY UNIVERSAL PICTURES

LOS ANGELES, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Domestic distribution of the Largo Entertainment remake of "The Getaway" will be handled by Universal Pictures, announced Richard Ingber, president, marketing and distribution for Largo.
Directed by Roger Donaldson, the film will star Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger in the roles originally played by Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw. Also starring are James Woods and Michael Madsen. David Foster, Lawrence Turman and John Alan Simon will serve as producers.
The screenplay, adapted from the novel by Jim Thompson, was written by Walter Hill and Amy Jones. The highly successful 1972 version of "The Getaway" was also written by Hill, directed by Sam Peckinpah and co-produced by Foster (with Mitchell Brower).
The steamy action-thriller tells the story of a master crook and his wife, portrayed by Baldwin and Basinger, who combine their efforts to pull off one last heist. Along the way, they encounter a twisted trail of double crosses, deceptions and dangerous partnerships.
Largo International N.V. will directly handle sales and marketing for "The Getaway" in all foreign territories via licensing arrangements with various distributors including Victor Co. of Japan Ltd. in Japan and Penta Films in Italy with which it has existing output arrangements.
Largo Entertainment is a joint venture between Lawrence Gordon and JVC Entertainment Inc., that produces, finances and distributes theatrical motion pictures for markets throughout the world.
