LADBROKE RACING CORPORATION ANNOUNCE PLANS TO OPEN WAGERING SITE
MEADOW LANDS, Pa., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Ladbroke Racing Corporation has announced plans to open a fifth off-track wagering site in Moon Township, Allegheny County.
Spokesman Bob Sabot said Ladbroke planned to open the new site, located in the West Hills Shopping Center in late November if everything goes as planned.
A public hearing on the application by Ladbroke has already been held in Moon Township. The application to construct the site has received tentative approval by the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission.
Ladbroke Racing Corporation confirmed that the company has signed a lease for the West Hills Shopping Center location.
The Moon Township site will cover approximately 18,000 square feet and cost approximately $3 million. When it opens, the off-track wagering site will employ approximately 100 workers. There will be 26 pari-mutuel stations in the building along with more than 150 color monitors for viewing of races from Ladbroke at The Meadows, Philadelphia Park, Penn National Race Course and Pocono Downs. The facility will include food and beverage with casual dining and also a 100-seat full- service restaurant. Additionally, there will be a bar and a lounge area as well.
Ladbroke Racing Corporation owns and operates The Meadows in Washington County and off-track wagering sites in New Castle, Greensburg, Johnstown and Harmar Township. The company is permitted to open a sixth site as well although the exact location has not yet been determined. That opening is planned for 1993.
