LADBROKE RACING: PENNSYLVANIA GOVERNOR SIGNS SIMULCASTING BILL

MEADOW LANDS, Pa., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Ladbroke Racing announced this afternoon that Pennsylvania Gov. Robert P. Casey signed Senate Bill No. 507 allowing full card simulcasting.
With the new legislation, all Pennsylvania tracks will now be permitted to bring in full cards of racing from outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
"We are very pleased and appreciative of the support Gov. Casey has shown for the racing industry. His signature means a stronger racing industry in Pennsylvania and jobs throughout the state," said Meadows track spokesman Bob Sabot. "This legislation would not have happened had it not been for the strong support of the General Assembly in favor of this racing industry."
Ladbroke at The Meadows, Pocono Downs, Philadelphia Park and Penn National Race Course currently simulcast races between tracks. The new legislation will allow the tracks to bring in out-of-state cards. Similar legislation is already in effect in West Virginia, New Jersey and Maryland.
Officials of The Meadows said they planned to begin full-card simulcasting this month, but no official dates or schedules have yet been announced. A decision on that is expected within the next few days.
