LADBROKE CANCELS SHOW WAGERING FOR ART ROONEY FINAL FOR 3-YEAR-OLDS

MEADOW LANDS, Pa., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Ladbroke at The Meadows has cancelled show wagering for the Saturday night Art Rooney Final for 3-year-old colt pacers...trying to keep from happening this Saturday night what happend last Saturday night, a spokesman for the track said.
Adios eligible Presidential Ball, who has won 10 out of 11 times this season and who finished second in his other outing, is a heavy favorite to win the race in the field which includes one stablemate and seven other competitors.
For the third time this season and the second time in just a couple of weeks, an unidentified Philadelphia-area man walked into the OTB in Center City Philadelphia last Saturday and bet $100,000 to show on Presidential Ball in the Rooney eliminations at Yonkers. The race was bet into the pools at The Meadows. Presidential Ball won and The Meadows said it lost over $20,000 when a minus pool was created since there was insufficient wagering on the other horses in the race to cover the bet.
"He'll have to bet him to place this Saturday night and if I had $100,000 maybe it wouldn't be a bad bet," said Meadows track spokesman Bob Sabot. "Then again, Presidential Ball might make an unlikely break and finish third. We'll be watching the tote board Saturday night to see if he tries again."
One $90,000 bet and two $100,000 bets at The Meadows and one $100,000 bet at Pocono has thus far netted the "Bridge Jumper" $19,500, the track spokesman said.
