LADBROKE AT THE MEADOWS TO HOLD LIBERATED LADIES PACE MARCH 27
MEADOW LANDS, Pa., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- History will be made Friday night at Ladbroke at The Meadows when eight female drivers will get into sulkies and compete against each other -- one-on-one -- in the Liberated Ladies Pace, a spokesman for the track said today.
When the eight drivers get together in the fourth race Friday night, track officials said it will be the very first time in track history that eight women have ever competed against one another in one race.
The eight female drivers are Cammie Davis, Sharon Donella, Lisa Beinhauer, Cherie Keith, Joyce Vonish, Michelle Brainard, Judy Sprowls and January Smith.
The drivers will take part in the celebrated race during Friday night's fourth race. The competition for the ladies will be a $3,000 claiming pace.
In a sport dominated by men, harness racing has relatively few female stars. However, on Friday night, the women will be in the spotlight, the track spokesman said.
