LADBROKE AT THE MEADOWS REACHES AGREEMENT WITH WNEU-TV 63

MEADOW LANDS, Pa., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Ladbroke at The Meadows announced today that it has reached an agreement with WNEU-TV 63 in Pittsburgh whereby the station would carry the Meadows Racing Network (MRN) for all Sunday night race programs.
The agreement is effective immediately and the station has begun carrying the races each Sunday, 6-10:30 p.m.
WNEU-TV is a 24-hour, UHF independent broadcast station reaching non-cable and cable TV households in the immediate Pittsburgh Metro market. Also included are nearly 200,000 homes carrying WNEU by TCI Cable and Adelphia Cable.
The addition of Channel 63 will allow 192,000 non-cable TV households in the Pittsburgh market to watch the races and wager through Call-A-Bet.
Ladbroke has also announced that throughout May the track will make a $1 donation to Pittsburgh's Children's Hospital for every new Call-A-Bet account which is signed up through WNEU viewers. The contribution will be part of the Meadows' donation to Children's Hospital at Christmas, which topped $15,000 last year.
Currently, the MRN broadcasts on 16 cable systems in Western Pennsylvania reaching over 800,000 cable homes. The track has over 9,000 Call-A-Bet customers.
Tom Chaffee, director of Advertising & Broadcast Services for Ladbroke Racing Pennsylvania, said, "While the Pittsburgh market is one of the highest in terms of cable penetration, there still is a large audience who do not subscribe to cable. With WNEU-TV 63 we can reach this audience and expose them to the fun and excitement of placi wager by phone with Call-A-Bet and then cheering their horses home."
Nancy Hahn, president of WNEU-TV 63, is pleased to offer live harness racing with the Meadows Racing Network. "It is yet another way this 24-hour, independent broadcast station is filling a niche by providing quality and innovative programming to suit the variety of viewers' tastes in the Pittsburgh market."
The Free Care Fund at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh solicits contributions for the purpose of providing hospital services to needy children within the specific free care area. For additional written information, call the development department at 412-692-5317.
