LADBROKE AT THE MEADOWS ISSUES TRACK NEWS

 MEADOW LANDS, Pa., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Ladbroke at The Meadows has announced a tentative agreement with Sports Arena Employees Union Local 137 for 1993. The union represents employees who work in Mutuels, Admissions, Parking, Security and Maintenance. Specific terms of the one year agreement were not released but included a wage freeze for the 1993 racing season. Union ratification took place last weekend as the one year pact was approved on a 66-7 vote.

 Meadows top driver Dave Palone has been named the third leading percentage driver in the country by the United States Trotting Association for 1992 for drivers with 500 or more starts. Palone had a percentage of .433 behind Bill Davis (.460) and Walter Case Jr. (.443). In addition, Palone was the third leading driver in all of North America for wins. Palone had 615 compared to 834 for Walter Case Jr. and 715 for Jack Molseyev. Palone, 30, of Rices Landing, Pa., completed his best racing season yet in 1992. He will be honored at the prestigious Dapper Dan Club Banquet in February. Meanwhile, Brian Weaver, of Home, Pa., who races a good part of the season at The Meadows, was the top percentage driver in the nation for drivers with 300 to 499 starts. Weaver had a percentage of .400.

 Ladbroke at The Meadows has announced that Kenneth Vredenburg has taken over the duties of Presiding Judge at the track effective with the races this week. Vredenburg, age 56, comes to The Meadows from Northfield Park near Cleveland. He has been a Judge for eight years. Vredenburg replaces Pat Campana who resigned and took his retirement. Vredenburg is from Jackson Center, Pa.
