-- The Adios final will be raced at approximately 5:35 p.m. The purse for each divisional race is $84,720. The purse for the final is $254,160.
-- The local drivers in The Adios are Palone, Sells, Zaimes and Snyder. Sells ranks 18th on the all-time money-won list in Adios events with 13 starts, one win, one second and two thirds and earnings of $73,723. Palone has raced in 11 Adios events and has one third-place finish. He ranks 27th on the all-time money-won list in Adios events with $44,191. Zaimes has raced in two Adios events and has one third-place finish. He ranks 52nd on the all-time money-won list in Adios events with $15,874. Snyder ranks 59th on the all-time money won list with four starts and $13,950 earned. He has never hit the ticket in an Adios race.
-- Barberry Spur remains the only local horse ever to win The Adios. Barberry won in 1986 with driver Dick Stillings. The only local horse in The Adios this year is Faldo Hanover, who will be driven by Snyder.
-- Jay Time and Strike Out are the only two horses to dead-heat in The Adios. The two horses accomplished that feat in 1972.
-- Ladbroke at The Meadows established an all-time wagering handle record of $1,031,754 in the 1992 Adios. Track officials believe they stand an excellent chance of breaking it this year again, a track spokesman said.
-- Track conditions should be fast and the weather conditions will be good on Saturday afternoon. Therefore, there is an outside chance of a world record on a five-eighths mile track, the spokesman said. The world record for a pacer is 1:50.3. An old mark of 1:50.4 was set in The Adios by In The Pocket in 1990...a record that stood for nearly two years.
-- John Campbell, Billy Haughton and Joe O'Brien are the only three drivers to ever win three Adios events.
-- Presidential Ball, who missed The Adios because of a throat infection, has suddenly surfaced in New Jersey and will race in a Jersey Sires Stake on Saturday, a Meadows spokesman said. The race is a $105,000 event at Freehold. Trainer William Robinson had committed to Meadows officials that he would race the horse in The Adios. It is believed that due to the throat infection that Robinson wished to make the return of Presidential Ball an easy one. The two-heat Adios, with tougher competition, might have been too big of a test. "We're obviously very disappointed," said track spokesman Bob Sabot. "Only Mr. Robinson can say for sure why his plans have been changing so quickly. I know we had a commitment. I know he was out of The Adios and then I know Presidential Ball popped up in New Jersey," Sabot said.
-- There will be a total of 14 races on Saturday afternoon. Post time is 1 p.m. There will be 12 races at night at Ladbroke at The Meadows with a post time of 8 p.m.
