LADBROKE, STANDARDBRED OWNER ANNOUNCE DONATION TO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

MEADOW LANDS, Pa., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- An owner of standardbreds at Ladbroke at The Meadows along with the track itself today announced a joint donation to benefit Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
During the 1994 race season, 80 percent of all earnings accumulated by the pacer The Last Zing will be donated to Children's Hospital. That 80 percent includes 10 percent which will be donated by trainer Michael Palone and his brother Dave Palone. The horse, a 4-year-old gelding, is owned by Equity Action of Rices Landing, Pa.
In addition, Ladbroke at The Meadows announced that it will equally match the donation.
In 1993, Ladbroke Racing and the horsemen donated over $21,000 to Children's Hospital. The money was raised during the Christmas season at the track.
Track spokesman Bob Sabot said that raising the money throughout the season for Children's Hospital will help the track to ease away from trying to raise a large chunk of money in a very short period of time.
"This is a tremendous commitment to a very worthy cause and we're proud to be associated with the effort," said Sabot.
The Last Zing is scheduled to make his first racing start of 1994 tonight.
