LABOR AND INDUSTRY SECRETARY FOLEY ANNOUNCES $2 MILLION IN JOB TRAINING FUNDS TO AID DISLOCATED WORKERS

 HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Labor and Industry Secretary Tom Foley today announced approval of nearly $2 million in federal funds to provide assistance for dislocated workers in eight regional job training areas in Pennsylvania.
 "The funds are another investment in helping out-of-work Pennsylvanians get training and assistance to meet the changing needs of businesses," Foley said.
 The funds are in addition to $3.3 million in state funds to assist dislocated workers announced earlier.
 Dislocated workers are workers who have lost their jobs through large-scale plant closings or layoffs or who have been unemployed for a long period of time.
 Services to be provided will include basic re-adjustment services, retraining, supportive and administrative services, and needs related payments.
 The funds are made available through the federal Job Training Partnership Act. They are awarded and administered by the state Department of Labor and Industry.
 A total of $1,962,119 will be distributed to the following regional job training agencies:

 Blair, Cambria, Huntingdon, Somerset counties)
