LABARGE SETTLES LAWSUIT

 LABARGE SETTLES LAWSUIT
ST. LOUIS, Mo., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- LaBarge, Inc. (AMEX: LB) has

reached an agreement to settle a lawsuit pending against the company and, originally, eleven other defendants.
The suit alleged that LaBarge's former Tubular Division had participated with the other defendants in violating certain anti-trust laws during the 1970s and early 1980s. LaBarge divested its Tubular Division in 1984.
LaBarge was prepared to present what it believed was a strong, convincing defense in the matter, which was pending in U.S. District Court in Houston. However, within the past 30 days, the last remaining co-defendant unexpectedly reached a settlement with TransAmerica Refining Corporation and the other plaintiffs. As a result, the company determined that the cost of defending itself alone could match or exceed the cost of a settlement.
Under terms of the settlement, LaBarge will make cash payments over a period of three years; the payments will have a discounted present value of approximately $300,000. The company also will issue to the plaintiff 100,000 shares of restricted LaBarge common stock. LaBarge has more than 15 million common shares outstanding.
The settlement will be reflected in the company's results for the fiscal year ended June 28, 1992. It will have no impact on future earnings.
