LABARGE RECEIVES $5.0 MILLION CONTRACT FROM MARTIN MARIETTA

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- LaBarge, Inc. (AMEX: LB) announced today that it has been awarded a follow-on contract valued at approximately $5.0 million to manufacture and test sophisticated electronic equipment for the U.S. Navy's AEGIS system. The contract was awarded by Martin Marietta, the system's prime contractor.
All work on the contract will be performed at LaBarge's facility in Huntsville, Ark. The contract will allow LaBarge to maintain continuous production of the high reliability printed circuit card assemblies and power supply sub assemblies through the first calendar quarter of 1995. Earlier this year, LaBarge received the AEGIS Excellence award from Martin Marietta and the U.S. Navy in recognition of its outstanding performance on the program.
AEGIS is the most advanced shipboard anti-aircraft and anti-missile system in the world. LaBarge is also involved in other aspects of this important program, having produced the AN/UYQ-21 standard display used in AEGIS since 1987.
Craig E. LaBarge, chief executive officer and president, commented: "We are quite pleased to be able to continue our involvement with Martin Marietta on the AEGIS program. Our Huntsville personnel have done an outstanding job. We expect other AEGIS opportunities as a result of our superior performance."
"This contract award follows closely an announcement on Dec. 8, 1993 that LaBarge had received orders for $3.7 million for commercial products used in the oil field service industry."
LaBarge, Inc. is engaged in the contract engineering and manufacture of sophisticated electronic systems and devices and complex interconnect assemblies for defense, aerospace and commercial electronics markets.
