 LA OPINION ANNOUNCES PROMOTION OF GIL GARCIA
 LOS ANGELES, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- La Opinion, the nation's


leading Spanish-language daily newspaper since 1926, today announced the recent promotion of Gil Garcia, formerly controller for the company, to chief financial officer.
 Garcia, prior to coming to La Opinion in 1986, was with the firm of Arthur Young in Los Angeles after graduating from Loyola Marymount University. He is a Certified Public Accountant; a member of the International Newspaper Financial Executives; and a board member of the South Central Family Health Center of Los Angeles.
 In making the announcement, publisher Jose I. Lozano said, "Gil Garcia adds a wealth of talent and experience to this critical area of the company. The paper will continue to prosper because of his efforts and those of his fellow employees at La Opinion."
 Also recently promoted was Marti Buscaglia to director of marketing. She joined the newspaper in April of 1989 as public relations manager and served in the position of marketing manager since late 1989.
