L.A. GEAR WINS SIT AGAINST ISRAELI COUNTERFEITERS

SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- L.A. Gear Inc. (NYSE: LA) laces up yet another victory in its fight against counterfeiters.
The District Court of Tel Aviv granted L.A. Gear an injunction against the further sales of counterfeit L.A. Gear(R) branded shoes by Bani Universom, a large Israeli importer, distributor and retailer of footwear.
The court order followed two lightning search and seizure raids carried out by L.A. Gear and Israeli police on an unsuspecting Bani, resulting in the confiscation of more than 2,000 pairs of counterfeit L.A. Gear shoes. Also seized were documents from Bani showing they had imported more than 20,000 pairs of L.A. Gear counterfeits into Israel from a French company.
L.A. Gear's president, Mark R. Goldston, said, "This Israel victory, coupled with our other recent successful actions in such countries as Australia, Holland, Korea, Germany and Sweden should send a clear message that L.A. Gear will aggressively prosecute counterfeiters around the world."
L.A. Gear is a designer, developer and marketer of a broad range of quality athletic and casual/lifestyle footwear.
