L. J. HENDRIX, JR., ELECTED TO NATIONAL CITY BANK'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 CLEVELAND, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- L. J. (Bill) Hendrix, Jr., executive vice president and chief operating officer of Reliance Electric Company (NYSE: REE), has been elected to the board of directors of National City Bank.
 "We are pleased to have Mr. Hendrix join our board," said David A. Daberko, chairman and chief executive officer of National City Bank. "We will certainly benefit from his many years of experience and his leadership skills."
 Hendrix was appointed executive vice president of Reliance Electric in April 1989, and to the additional post of chief operating officer in September 1992. In January of this year, he was named a director of Reliance Electric. Hendrix also serves as a director of Keithley Instruments, Inc.
 Hendrix joined Reliance Electric in 1973 and held various positions in the company's mechanical group including operations manager and general manager. In 1981, Hendrix was elected operating vice president, and in 1986 he was named vice president, corporate development.
 He earned both his BS degree (1963) and his MS degree (1968) from Clemson University. He currently serves as a board member of the Clemson University Foundation and as a member of the President's Advisory Council.
 Hendrix is on the board of several organizations including the National Electrical Manufacturers Association; Employers Resource Council; and the American Red Cross - Cleveland Chapter. He serves as a trustee of the Federated Church of Chagrin Falls.
 Hendrix and his family live in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
