L. DENNIS KOZLOWSKI TO ASSUME ADDITIONAL POST AS TYCO CEO JULY 1, 1992
EXETER, N.H., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Tyco Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: TYC) announced today that L. Dennis Kozlowski, Tyco's president and chief operating officer, will assume the additional post of chief executive officer, effective on July 1, 1992.
"Mr. Kozlowski's appointment as chief executive officer is a natural extension of his duties in the evolution of our management team," said John F. Fort, current CEO and chairman of Tyco's board of directors. "Since his appointment as president and chief operating officer in December of 1989, he has been responsible for all of Tyco's business operations and corporate functions and directed the smooth integration of our largest-ever acquisition, the worldwide operations of Wormald Fire Protection Company.
"After July 1, in my continuing executive capacity and as chairman of Tyco's board, I will be focusing on the longer term development of our global line of businesses, further acquisitions, as well as other means of maximizing shareholder value.
"It is appropriate that Mr. Kozlowski will start his new assignment at the beginning of our next fiscal year. The programs we have implemented over the past months to counter current economic conditions are now having a positive impact on earnings. We expect that earnings in our second fiscal quarter, ending Dec. 31, 1991, will be moderately higher than those reported for our first quarter this year. We also expect that our third and fourth quarters will show further sequential increases. As a result, we will start the new fiscal year in good position to take advantage of a number of factors including benefits resulting from the lower cost of debt, additional synergies resulting from the Wormald acquisition, siginficant further growth at Simplex's undersea fiber optic cable operation, and the impact of the cost saving programs we have put in place."
Tyco is a worldwide manufacturer of fire protection/flow control systems, electrical and electronic components and packaging materials.
