Kyrgyzstan plans to establish twin-region relations with Turkey's Kayseri.

Ambassador to Turkey Ibragim Junusov paid a working visit to the city of Kayseri from April 30 to May 2, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

During the visit, the envoy met with local authorities and took part in an annual football and volleyball tournaments of the Kyrgyz students studying in universities of Turkey.

Junusov highlighted fraternal ties between the two nations, and expressed interest in twinning the province of Kayseri with one of the regions of Kyrgyzstan.

While meeting governor of Kayseri province, mayor of Kayseri city, head of Kayseri Chamber of Commerce and Industry and head of the Erciyes University, further development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation in trade, culture, education and science were discussed.

Kayseri Province is situated in central Turkey. The population is over 1.3 million. It covers an area of 16,917 square kilometers. The province is an area that has been linked with mythological stories as well as important figures in Turkish history.
