Kyrgyzstan Members of Parliament speak for chemical castration of child molesters.

MP Tursunbai Bakir uulu came up with a draft law of additions to Kyrgyzstan legislative acts on February 8, which propose chemical castration of child molesters. "The main aim is to reduce crimes against children and under-agers," MP explained. It is possible to use special hormonal preparations, which reduce testosterone in blood. Number of crimes reduced by 75% in the USA and Europe after the implementation of such measures. "Pedophilia is a pathology. It is necessary to prevent any abilities of such people to commit crimes, so we might use chemical castration against them," Minister of Interior Shamil Atakhanov said. Chemical castration becomes a temporary measure, if one do not receive the preparation for one month, it stops working. So backslide may occur, Daniyar Terbishaliev said. He suggested to implement somatic castration as it also doesn't request huge money. Backslide occurs only in 3% of the time according to the statistics, Tursunbai Bakir uulu added. Nevertheless, chemical castration would demand around $6,000 a year, State Secretary of Ministry of Health Paiza Suyumbaeva said. "Preparations for chemical castration also have side effects, such as headache, aggression, hepatitis, and other. Besides, who is going to control regular preparation intakes by child molesters?" Paiza Suyumbaeva asked.
