Kyrgyz film to partake in 33rd Cinekid International Media Festival in Netherlands.
The film "Joo Kuluk" of director Mirlan Abdykalykov was selected for the main competitive programme Best Children's Film at the 33rd Cinekid International Media Festival, which will be held in several cities of the Netherlands on October 16-25, said producer Altynai Koichumanova.
The festival aims at giving a survey of the best new international children's films, - television, - new and crossing media productions and wants to promote quality in children's and youth media.
The film "Joo Kuluk" is an emotional story focused on children's world with their unchildish problems and opinions, but with childish innocence and childishness peculiar only to children.
The world premiere of the film will be held in October at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea and in Kyrgyzstan the film will be screened in cinemas from October 17.
The Cinekid Festival is the largest international film, television and new media festival for children aged 4 to 14 held at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It started as a small children's film festival and has now grown into a large organisation that develops activities for children in the areas of film, television and new media throughout the year. These activities are presented alongside the festival, whereas the festival itself screens films from all over the world and a selection of the best television programs for children. It also organises several new media activities. Each year the festival is attended by over 50,000 children, parents and (international) guests.
