Kyrgyz delegation participates in session of UN Commission on Population and Development in New York.

A delegation of Kyrgyzstan takes part in the 47th session of the UN Commission on Population and Development in New York (USA), the press service of the Parliament reported.

In the framework of the event, the Kyrgyz delegation will share national experience in population matters and participate in the assessment of the implementation of the Program of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).

The session began on April 7 and will run until April 11.

The delegation includes MPs from SDPK faction Damira Niyazalieva and Irina Karamushkina, and head of the Department for Medical Care and Drug Policy under the Ministry of Health Anara Yeshkhojayeva.

The Commission on Population and Development is one of the ten Functional Commissions of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. It was established in 1946. The goal of the Commission is the follow-up to the implementation of the Program of Action of ICPD, including monitoring, review and assessment of the Program at the regional, national and international levels and advise the Economic and Social Council on issues such as populations issues and trends, integrating population and development strategies, and on population and related development policies and programs.
