Kyrgyz Geology Agency releases data on reserves of Zhetim iron ore and Sandyk aluminum deposits.

The State Agency for Geology and Mineral Resources of Kyrgyzstan provided data on mineral resources at Zhetim and Sandyk deposits, reported Tazabek. Exploration of the first deposit Zhetim was limited by old drainage system of 1960. The richest part Dangy contains 50% of deposits of iron ore. The deposit is located in Tian Shan region of Naryn region. Zhetim is estimated to have about 1.7 billion tons of iron ore. The average content of the remaining elements are as follows: titanium - up to 0.25%, phosphorus - 0.8%, vanadium - up to 00.2% and nickel - to 0.01%. Development is constrained by poor infrastructure, complex technology of ores and low metal content. The altitude is 2 250-3 800 meters. The Ministry of Natural Reources revoked the license of Chinese Mylin Resources for exploration of iron ore deposits in Zhetim. Sandyk deposit is located in Zhumal district of Naryn region. Commercial value makes nepheline syenite deposits (203.4 million tons, containing 20% of aluminum oxide ) in Jumgal Ridge. The deposit is located at 2 800-3 600 meters above sea level. Exploration was held in 1958-1961. This field is promising, as it contains aluminum and rubidium ores with undeveloped processing technology.
