Kyrgyz, Russian scholars to make mathematical model of Toktogul reservoir new basin.

The delegation of Kyrgyz scholars is visiting the All-Russian Experimental Physics Research Institute in Saint-Petersburg since August 31 under the joint project on quality of the water resources of the biggest in Kyrgyzstan Toktogul reservoir. The Toktogul reservoir is crucial for the entire Central Asian region. The cotton yield in Uzbekistan and electricity supply for entire Kyrgyzstan and southern Kazakhstan depends upon it.In 2009, Russia has allocated a loan for construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydroelectric station, which lies in the basin of the Toktogul reservoir. The mode of accumulation of water in the reservoir will change entirely after construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydroelectric station. The Kyrgyz and Russian scholars will make mathematical model of a new basin of the Toktogul reservoir basin in view of the collecting area of the Naryn river, move of underground waters, precipitation, specifics of the mountainous landscape and seasonal fluctuations of the water level in the water reservoir. This mathematical model will allow to make short-term and long-term forecasts to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the strategic facility. The international seminar with hydrogeologists from Belgium, Italy, Finland, Russia and Central Asian countries will take place in 2010 in Kyrgyzstan
