Kuwaiti FM thanks Qatar for honoring His Highness the Amir as 'Humanitarian Leader'.
DOHA, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Tuesday expressed sincere thanks to the Qatari Amir, government and people on the generous initiative to honor His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in the 35th GCC summit on the occasion of being besowed the UN title as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a center for humanitarian work. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after the closing session tonight that this honoring was not for Kuwait and His Highness only but for the entire Gulf leaders. He added that the GCC states also respond quickly with all respect to ease the suffering of the needy people in any circumstances, and this honoring is an Arab and Islamic gesture that was launched from Kuwait to the Gulf. He said the overall situation described in the Doha Declaration and the final communique as well as the debates and the decisions which were all adopted fall in the interest of the GCC countries, especially since the region is going through "rough time" and serious threats and challenges, recalling the differences in opinion which emerged last year which could have been catasrophic, but thanks to the wisdom of the GCC leaders, such challenges have been overcome. He said that His Highness thanked his brothers, leaders of the GCC, for their sincere desire to overcome all suspended impurities in this Gulf march that extended for 33 years, however, the wisdom of the GCC leaders has contributed to ending such difficulties.
