Kuwait following UAE efforts on Schengen visa exemption.
Minister of State for Foreign Affiars Anwar Mohammed Gargash, in his Twitter posts, said that he believes that Kuwait is following keenly the progress in the UAE's efforts to get exemption for its citizens from taking visas before travelling to Schengen countries.
He said the UAE's success in making these European countries give visa on arrival for its citizens will pave the way for other GCC states also to get the same benefit.
Gargash's remarks followed a statement made by Ambassador Waleed Al Khebeizi, Director of the Europe Department at the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry, that the UAE would be "the gate for all of us in the Gulf, as we shall try to benefit from the Emirati experience to arrive at such an exemption".
Kuwait's Al Watan newspaper reported that Al Khebeizi also raised the possibility of introducing the unified GCC visa on a par with the Schengen visa. "This matter is up to the GCC leaders and council," he said. "We hope this to be introduced after some technical matters required for this purpose are decided on."
