Kuwait, UN keen on addressing global humanitarian crises - Envoy Al-Maatouq.
Chairman of the Kuwait-based International (IICO) Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq meets with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres NEW YORK, April 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is keen on cooperating with the UN in addressing global humanitarian crises, Chairman of the Kuwait-based International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq said. His remarks to KUNA came after a regular meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at the latter's office late Tuesday. Al-Maatouq, also Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Amiri Diwan Advisor, said that he had briefed Guterres with latest developments pertaining to humanitarian and political dossiers, as well as on his recent visits to sites for refugees and the displaced; all enclosed in an annual report. Al-Maatouq conveyed Guterres's praise for Kuwait's role in supporting humanitarian action, as well as its partnership with the UN in co-sponsoring, as well as hosting a number of donor conferences for people in plight and in need.
