Krones sells 200th Toptronic machine

Only three years after coming on to the market, the 200th Toptronic inspection machine has been sold, a rate of nearly six inspection machines per month.

Krones AG, Neutraubling, designed and produced the machine for the total inspection of bottles at the very high output ranges up to 60,000 bottles-per-hour, and which is now being used in beverage-filling industries worldwide - in the developing countries as well as industrialized nations. The Krones top model for inspecting returnable, or one-trip glass bottles, as well as PET bottles, permits any required combination of highly sensitive, optoelectronic inspection units to be accommodated in a total of seven inspection stations to ensure maximum efficiency in the detection of contaminants and foreign particles, residual liquids, caustic materials and bottle defects in general. Unsuitable bottles are rejected via two or three conveyors as required.

The 200th Toptronic, together with the two other Toptronic inspection machines, is being supplied to the Warsteiner Brewery in Germany. In Warstein, eight Toptronics are in operation inspecting NRW and Vichy bottles.

For increased inspection efficiency, the infeed is fitted with bottle height and color detection units allied to a retaining starwheel for the removal of foreign bottles.

State-of-the-art camera technology is utilized for the inspection of bottle base, bottle mouth and sidewall, while residual liquids are detected by two different inspection systems. Chipped-neck bottles are rejected separately at the machine discharge.
