Kosovo announces reciprocity.

Economy Minister Valon Saracini stated that Macedonia does not want a trade war with Kosovo and promised that soon the import of flour from Kosovo will be unblocked.

"This is the Government's decision and I will personally engage myself to annul it," said Saracini. The Government made a decision few month ago that obligated the import of flour from abroad with import of wheat in order to preserve the domestic production. As a response, Kosovo's authorities announced that they would request opening of the Macedonian borders for import of flour from Kosovo.

"Unless the Macedonian government unblocks the import of flour immediately, we will have to undertake reciprocal measures, that is to say, we are to block the import of certain Macedonian products," said Mimoza Kusari-Lila, Kosovo's Minister of Trade and Industry.

NDR assessed that the position of Kosovo's authorities is right and demanded Macedonia to be careful with the relations with Kosovo. If a trade war happens between the two countries, the damage will be greater for Macedonia as it exports goods to Kosovo in an amount to nearly 370 million dollars. On the other hand, Kosovo's export to Macedonia is estimated to be around thirty million dollars.
