Kona's pipeline rolls in.
Kona Brewing Company has launched its annual limited-release ale, Pipeline Porter The beer is made with the addition of freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee grown at Cornwell Estate Plantation, near the Kona brewery on Hawaii's Big Island.
The beer is named for the Banzai Pipeline a well-known surf break on the famed North Shore of Oahu.
"Pipeline Porter tastes of rich, roasted barley malt and aromatic hops, and is as dark as Hawaiian black lava," said Mattson Davis, Kona Brewing Company's President and CEO. "It is the only beer made with 100% Kona coffee, found exclusively in Hawaii. This lends a smooth finish and helps you kick back after a hard day-whether its at the office, or on the water."
Pipeline Porter is available from September 12 through March in 20 select mainland markets, eight of which are getting their first introduction to the limited release brew.
