Kohl & Madden introduces ETCHLess inks. (Fresh Ink).
Kohl & Madden Printing Ink Corporation has completed extensive press testing of a series of new sheetfed offset inks called ETCHLess inks. These new inks print with water only; no fountain solution etch or alcohol substitutes are needed. The ETCHLess ink series is based on a new, patented technology that offers the printer faster setting and drying times, resulting in quicker work and turn while maintaining extremely sharp printing due to minimal dot gain.
A proprietary selection of resins and oils enhances the transfer of ETCHLess inks and provides exceptional trapping efficiency. They also provide faster plate clean-up, resulting in quicker make ready and reduced waste.
ETCHLess inks will stay open in the fountain for 24 hours, and the dried ink film will accept water and/or UV coating, foil stamping and lamination.
"This patented technology represents a major step forward in simplifying the offset printing process. It offers value to printers by limiting chemistries in the pressroom with no loss of print quality," said Craig Morgan, Kohl & Madden's director of marketing.
ETCHLess inks are available in standard process colors, and as a Pantone color blending system.
