Kobo chosen to power Borders' e-Reading applications and e-Book store.

Kobo said Borders leverages its 'Powered By' programme, which provides a flexible solution for partners to launch an e-Book store that uses the company's content and technology.

Through the programme, Borders has branded Kobo's e-Reading applications for the BlackBerrry, Android, iPhone and iPad, enabling customers to read on a selection of devices they already own.

The Kobo-powered Borders e-Book store offers over 1.5m titles in numerous e-Book standards such as ePUB and PDF. Customers can now access Kobo's e-Book library, featuring New York Times bestsellers, the latest new releases from top authors around the globe and hundreds of thousands of free titles.

The e-Book store also supports a range of e-Reading devices, including the USD149 Kobo eReader, an easy-to-use, affordable e-Ink device that comes pre-loaded with the Borders Desktop app, through which consumers can access the Borders e-Book store via USB or wirelessly through Bluetooth.

In addition, the Kobo e-Reader comes pre-loaded with 100 classic books and can store up to 1000 e-Books. The device is also bundled with a USD20 Borders gift card.
