Klukwan subsidiary wins Seattle Ferry service bid. (Native).

Chilkat Washington Inc., known as Chilkat Cruises, and is a subsidiary of Klukwan Inc., now operates a high speed passenger ferry service between the Puget Sound destinations of Seattle and Port Townsend. The service features one of the fastest passenger vessels in the country, the newly built Chilkat Express jet catamaran.

The vessel's, normal cruise speed. is about 40 knots (45mph) and is expected. to make the 34-nautical-mile crossing from Port Townsend to Seattle in just under an hour, conditions and traffic. Chilkat Cruises will operate this. service on Friday, Saturday and Sunday through March 2002. Fares and information about the service can be found at or,
