20 August 2014 - US voice messaging and mobile apps developer Kirusa said it had purchased Ghanaian mobile messaging company Saya Mobile without disclosing the financial specifics of the transaction.

With the purchase of Saya, Kirusa will be able to reach African users and broaden its geographical presence in the region, the buyer said. Additionally, the deal will enhance Kirusa's expertise and the reach of its InstaVoice mobile app on the continent.

Following the transaction, Kirusa will take full ownership of Saya's intellectual property, technology and staff, all of which will operate on the company's mobile applications.

Saya is focused on delivering messaging applications that ensure a great mobile user experience and are also tied to the needs of consumers in emerging markets, particularly in Africa. This region has been designated as a top priority for Kirusa, said Inderpal Singh Mumick, chief executive of the US company.
