Kirin USA offers incentive program to top distributors

Between September 13 and 16, the best of Kirin USA's distributors, top management personnel from Martlett Importing and Kirin's own key executives enjoyed a long weekend of golf, gourmet meals and entertaining activities during the 1990 Kirin Cup Golf Classic, held at the Woodlands Inn Resort in Texas.

John Gomatos, general manager, Kirin USA, originated the program five years ago when he was deciding how to direct Kirin to a leading brand position in the imported beer category.

"I felt the only effective means was to improve major placements and displays during the key sales period of the year," Gomatos said. "In order to get the all-out support of our top distributor sales people, I knew I needed the most effective sales incentive program possible... and hence the birth of The Kirin Cup Golf Classic, the inaugural of which was held in Nassau (Bahamas) in 1987.

"The program--from conception through promotion to delivery--was the finest incentive program we have done to date," enthused Gomatos. "Incentive Marketing Management (IMM) did a phenomenal job in every aspect of our program, the most notable of which were the outstanding promotional tools utilized throughout the sales contest."
