King Tutankhamun: The Treasures of the Tomb

Zahi Hawass

Thames & Hudson

296 pages

Three hundred plus color photographs document the Egyptian relics of King Tutankhamun housed in the Valley of the Kings necropolis for 3000 years before being excavated by Howard Carter in 1922. The organization follows the layout of rooms as they likely were entered by the archeologist, noting the work he performed each year and the position of major pieces within the rooms. A detailed description of the artefact accompanies each photograph. Many of the coffins receive a vivid two-page foldout. ([umlaut] Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR)
