Kidnap victim 'at peace'.

Eleven years after she was kidnapped by killer Michael Sams, Birmingham estate agent Stephanie Slater claims she is finally at peace.

The 36-year-old, who has changed her name to Phoenix Rhiannon, said she is living happily on the Isle of Wight with her best friend but still hopes to find 'Mr Right'.

Miss Rhiannon said she gladly gives lectures for police about her eight-day ordeal, which included being kept in a coffin inside a wheelie bin.

'Eleven years have passed now and I can finally say I am at peace. Of course, one day I'd love to meet Mr Right and get married but I have never been so happy in my life,' she said. 'Why wouldn't I be? Being the only victim in police history to have survived a kidnap where a ransom has been paid, I'm invited to lecture the police all the time, which I gladly do. I live with my best friend in a beautiful place by the sea. Things are good.'

Miss Rhiannon was kidnapped on January 22 1992 while showing toolmaker Sams round a Birmingham property.

She was driven blindfold to Stoke-on-Trent, where Sams posted a ransom note to police demanding pounds 175,000, then taken to his Nottinghamshire workshop where she was held in a makeshift coffin for the next eight days. After a tape of Sams' voice was played on Crimewatch, his ex-wife told police she believed he was the kidnapper.
