Kickathon raises pounds 1,000.

TALENTED martial artists from Birmingham Choi Kwang Do increased their fund-raising total to over pounds 1,000 after a recent kickathon.

Each youngster at the West Heathbased club completed over 300 kicks.

All funds raised on the day were donated to the Red Cross Chile Earthquake Appeal and its school in Concepcion, Chile.

The Kickathon was based around the distance from Birmingham to Concepcion with every mile represented by one kick.

Simon Wood, chief instructor and school owner, said he was proud of the students after they had worked so hard.

"Most of those that took part in the kickathon were children, some as young as six, so it was a great effort by them all," he said.
