Khan calls for development of agriculture sector.

By PESHAWAR, May 12, 2011 (Balochistan Times): Deputy Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly, Khushdil Khan advocate has called for development for agriculture and other sectors on modern lines for bringing improvement in the growth of the Gross Development Product (GDP). He was talking while inspecting construction work on Jane Khawar water channel at Ghari Wakeelan. He was also accompanied by Director General Flood Control, Naeem Khan. PD Naseem Golra, Chief Engineer, Irrigation, Mohammad Riaz, Consultant Iqbal Shah and EXN Irrigation Warsak Canal, Mohammad Sohail Khan. The deputy speaker said that agriculture play the role of backbone in the development of country and without development in the sector the dream of achievement in self-sufficiency in the food products could not be accomplished. He directed the officials of the irrigation department for earlier completion of the construction work of the water channel concerned to guarantee the timely provision of water to the growers and increase the production of vegetables and particularly sugar in the country. The deputy speaker said that the government beside the provision of fertilizer and timely provision of irrigation water is also taking measures for bringing improvement in the canal system of the province. He stressed on the peasants and growers for adopting modern means of agriculture to not only increase per act yield and make the country self-sufficient in agricultural products and help strengthen growers financially.
