Key budget talks.

MANAMA: The draft state budget is set for discussion on Monday when parliament and Shura Council's financial and economic committees hold their second meeting with a government delegation, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and ministerial committee for financial affairs and rationalisation of expenditure chairman, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

Parliament and Shura Council are expected to reject plans to withdraw from the Future Generations Reserve Fund and propose to borrow from the fund instead, to face the new budget deficit, MP Mohammed Al Amadi and Shura Council member Darweesh Al Mannai told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.

Mr Al Amadi said the government had proposed to exclusively allocate the BD100 housing allowance to each citizen renting a house with a monthly salary of no more than BD700, which parliament's financial and economic committee has rejected.
