TELECOMWORLDWIRE-30 March 2009-Key Stream to transfer wireless LAN business to Renesas(C)1994-2009 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
Key Stream Corporation, a supplier of wireless LAN chipsets, and Renesas Technology Corp, a provider of semiconductor system solutions, agreed on Friday (27 March) to transfer Key Stream Corporation's wireless LAN business to Renesas on 1 April, 2009.
The two companies have jointly developed and supplied wireless LAN solutions for mobile and digital consumer applications by combining Key Stream wireless LAN chipsets with Renesas microcontroller and SoC products.
Due to the current economic situation, the companies have concluded that it will be challenging for Key Stream to continue its business independently and have agreed to transfer a large share of the Key Stream wireless LAN business to Renesas with the aim to continue support for existing customers. As a result, Renesas will provide customer support in the future, the company said.
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
