Kevin's half century earns skipper's praise; MONTENEGRO v REP OF IRELAND.

Byline: By PAUL O'HEHIR

SKIPPER Robbie Keane last night doffed his cap at Kevin Kilbane who reaches a unique milestone tonight.

The versatile Wigan man, inset, will make his 50th consecutive competitive appearance when he lines out against Montenegro.

"It's a fantastic achievement for Kevin and really is some record," said the Liverpool striker. He has always been a great player to have around the squad. He is just desperate to play for the country and you would have seen that for years.

"He got a bad injury the other week but did everything in his power to be available for these games and that's a credit to him.

"The nation and the players are grateful to have such a player."
