Keri's lost in space.

There was a buzz of excitement in the air yesterday as four of Channel 4's Space Cadets - including a woman from Birmingham - were chosen to become the UK's first 'space tourists'.

Mission Controller James Campbell summoned the recruits to a meeting and announced that Paul, Billy and Keri had won themselves a place in the shuttle.

They will be joined by actor Charlie, the only one in on the fact that the show is leading up to a spoof space mission and the shuttle was purpose built by Hollywood set designers.

As their leader revealed the names of the chosen four, the rest of the group congratulated the stunned recruits.

The trio, who have no idea the show is a hoax, 'blasted off' during last night's show with two phoney cosmonauts.

They will spend up to five days thinking they are in space conducting a number of scientific experiments.

Billy Jackson, aged 25, a recruitment consultant and semi-professional footballer from Kent, Keri Hesnett, aged 25, a college administrator and Paul French, a 26-year-old plasterer from Bristol, were chosen after excelling at their training
