Kendro enters life science automation market.

Asheville, NC 3/19/04--Kendro Laboratory Products has acquired Data Centric Automation, a maker of automated protein crystallization systems for drug discovery. "The acquisition of Data Centric Automation provides Kendro with significantly greater capability in laboratory automation for drug discovery," said Kendro President Dennis M. Pope. "with DCA on board, we can better address the software, automation and development requirements of our customers and integration partners in the academic, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors."

Founded in 1999, Data Cetric Automation is based in Nashville, Tennessee. It sells the Rhombix product line as well as customized solutions. Kendro gains automation, integration and informatics engineering expertise. As automation has become a more fundamental aspect of life science labs of every size, Kendro is moving to bulk up its offerings in this area. Data Centric's experience with data storage, manipulation and monitoring is also valuable in adding value to the automation and integration of Kendro's primary business, lab equipment.
