Kendal no match for inspirational Caldy.

Byline: Gareth Davies

Kendal......................... 10 Caldy ........................... 59 CALDY produced one of their most impressive performances in recent years with the demolition of Kendal. Over the past few years, Kendal have proved to be one of the more difficult opponents in National Two North on their own patch but an outstanding performance marked for a near perfect first-half saw the visitors take all five points.

After the break, it was a more difficult encounter with Kendal seemingly stepping up a gear and proving difficult to break down despite Caldy having more possession.

Richard Vasey kicked two early penalties before Andrew Soutar got the first try from a well-judged crossfield kick, collected by Shaun Woof who then fed Soutar who then ran in from 50 yards.

Mark Ireland kicked a penalty for Kendal before Gavin Roberts was the benefactor from a slick move that saw him out-pace the defence and score in the corner in a very quick start to the game.

Caldy were now firing on all cylinders and further tries from Mike Roberts (2) and Dan Rowlands stretched the lead before veteran Woof rounded off the half with a try after an excellent Roberts break.

After the break, Kendal were clearly wound up and a period of pressure saw replacement Pete Redhead scoring out wide, which was expertly converted by Ireland.

Harry Broadbent and then Dan Rowlands grabbed further tries for the Wirral side to round off a very accomplished performance.
