Ken set to be in squad for Wigan; FOOTBALL.

KENNETH Omeruo is expected to be fit for selection when Boro travel to Wigan at the weekend.

The 21-year-old defender sat out Nigeria's 2-0 Africa Cup of Nations Group A qualifying win against Congo on Saturday. After checking with the Super Eagles' medical staff, Boro have confirmed that Omeruo was rested as a precaution due to a minor niggle and is available to play South Africa in Uyo tomorrow night.

But regardless of fitness, it's debatable whether Aitor Karanka will select the Chelsea loanee at the DW Stadium.

Ben Gibson and Dani Ayala have been paired up at centre-back in Boro's last four games. Three of those matches yielded clean sheets so the head coach will be keen to maintain that impressive return.
