Finnish chemicals group Kemira Oyj (OMX Helsinki:KRA) said on Thursday (24 July) that it is increasing formic acid capacity at its new plant in Oulu, Finlad.

The expansion enables Kemira's total production capacity to be increased by 30% to over 100,000 t/a.

The expansion was performed on the existing formic acid units and involved technological improvements and energy savings, the company said.

Kemira Oyj, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, is a chemicals group that operates in 40 countries. In 2007, Kemira recorded revenue of EUR2.8bn and had a staff of 10,000.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.25 euros (EUR).
