Keep up the hard work - Doig.

Byline: Andrew Stratton

CHESTER have made a terrific start to the season as three successive wins have put them at the head of affairs in National Three North.

New recruits during the close season have settled in nicely and Chester are hopeful of more arrivals in the next few days including possibly a Kiwi. The latest win came at the expense of Cheshire rivals Birkenhead Park 24-3. Sean Green, Tom Blackwell and man of the match Will Brown in the back row were credited with tries and Lloyd Hayes the three conversions and a penalty. "We can't rest on our laurels," said director of rugby Tim Doig. "These boys have set new standards and are surpassing themselves. But they must continue to work hard. No one owns their shirt. They have to earn it."

Next up for the Hare Lane outfit is a visit to Altrincham Kersal. It looks like another winning opportunity against a side promoted last season but Chester will not be able to take anything for granted.
